Dhabeji:
Wheat crop could not be cultivated
DHABEJI-Lakhs of acres of fertile land has been rendered
barren, crops and banana garden have withered away because of
acute shortage of water in the Indus river.
According to details, the entire fertile land of Mirpur Sakro,
Garro, Loharo, Ghora Bari and other adjoining areas has been
transformed into vast tracts of arid zones because of
consistent water shortage in the Indus. The Rabi crop is very
scarce and the growers have suffered great losses. Wheat crop
could not be cultivated at all in Tehsil Mirpur Sakro.
At Kharochan, where the Indus river falls into ocean, brackish
water of the sea has risen due to scarcity of water in Indus,
forcing locals to shift to other safer places.
If such a grave situation continues, it is apprehended that
brackish water of ocean may rise further and reach Kotri after
crossing Sujawal dam.
