Mode of wheat purchase
announced
KARACHI-The Government of Sindh
has announced the mode for the purchase of wheat crop-2002,
whereby, the procurement target has been fixed at 0.3 million
tonnes.
According to the district-wise break-up, 5,000 tonnes of wheat
will be procured from Hyderabad, 45,000 tonnes from Dadu,
Badin 700 tonnes, Thatta 300 tonnes, Khairpur 37,500 tonnes,
Nawabshah 41,250 tonnes, Naushehro Feroze 37,500 tonnes,
Larkana 10,500 tonnes, Jacobabad 7,500 tonnes, Shikarpur 2,250
tonnes, Mirpurkhas 7,500 tonnes and Sanghar 60,000 tonnes. The
wheat will be procured from growers on first-come-first-served
basis at 94 procurement centres/ government godowns throughout
the province.
The Food Department has issued
following instructions with regard to the mode of purchase to
regional heads/ DFC's.
i) Certificate of concerned
Mukhtiarkar of last year wheat sown crop.
Receipt of payment of land
revenue is mandatory.
ii) Substandard/ damaged/
weevilised wheat and wheat containing dust and dirt etc shall
not be accepted failing which the concerned centre incharge
will he held responsible.
iii) No grower should be
allowed 'bardana' exceeding 100 bags at a time and not more
than twice.
iv) Each retrieved bag should
be sprayed/ fumigated before utilisation in order to avoid
future weevilisation.
v) Centre incharge will be held
responsible for return of bardana from the grower.
vi) Procured wheat shall be
stocked properly keeping in view the safety and security of
wheat stock.
