Spokesman of Agriculture Department has said that during monthly progress review meeting of Agriculture Marketing held under the chairman-ship of Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsan Bhutta, it was decided to transform 25 markets into Model markets.
During meeting, as proposed by Extra Assistant Director Agriculture (E&M) and Secretary Market Committees, Fruit & Vegetable Markets Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, D.G Khan, R.Y Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Burewala, Kehror Pakka, Dina, Talagang, Depalpur, Pakpattan, Bhakkar,Samundri, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Kaacha (Lahore), Sheikupora, Nankana Sahib and Grain Markets of khanewal, Chichawatni, Sargodha, Piplan will be converted into model market with in one month.
These model markets shall attribute cleanliness along with anti-dengue, fruit fly management measures and maximum tree plantation. Spokesman further disclosed that these model markets shall be free from any encroachment. These markets will be under observation with no malpractice there. Schedule of market fee, commission and daily rates will be displayed at prominent places in model markets. Auction will be supervised to ensure transparency and daily rates will be prepared in accordance with the auction prices. Spokesman further disclosed that auction shall be recorded and both arrival and auction registered be maintained properly.
