Date trees project in southern Punjab

ISLAMABAD: – Punjab Agriculture Department has launched a unique project of massive cultivation of date trees in southern Punjab at a cost of Rs 78 million. A spokesman of Agriculture Department while talking to Radio Pakistan said, Pakistan was earning handsome foreign exchange annually by exporting dates.

He said under the project free plants have been distributed in the nine districts of Punjab adding that its objective was to transform southern Punjab into the “Date Palm Valley.–APP
