Farm Services Centre
in Chitral
PESHAWAR-To boost up the development of agriculture sector,
based on community participation in the decision making, a
Farm Services Centre(FSC) is being established at District
Chitral.
The farmers of the area will be the members of FSC who would
elect their representatives to different offices. They would
be responsible for using all related equipments and other
resources for the betterment of farmers.
In this connection, a joint meeting of Agriculture
Department's Officers and farmers of the area was held at
Booni, in Chitral District. It was attended by elected
representatives of Tehsil and Union Councils, besides related
staff of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme(AKRSP). The Farm
Services Centre would have at least 2000 members while at
present it had 1388 members.
The participants on this occasion told that under the present
government's devolution plan, in agriculture sector the steps
in hand had been taken aiming at hand over all the decision
making power to the public concerned and bring unity amongst
the farmers, speeding up the agriculture development.
They said, through this system the production, and quality of
agriculture product would improve thus resulting in improving
the lost of the farmers. The farmers were informed about the
role played by different sectors of Agriculture department.
It merits to mention here that Agriculture Department had
arranged a series of such meetings with farmers of 24 Union
Councils of District Chitral.
