Pakissan.com participates in the
Seminar
It was not expected that the participants might be too much
enthusiastic about the very last presentation about Pakistan’s
first ever agriculture web portal, Pakissan.com, at the end of
first day of (two day) seminar on Digital Divide at the
Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Islamabad on February 14.
However, it was attended with much interest and the bulk of
questions from the participants indicate the level of
curiosity.
International seminar on digital divide, which was attended by
a large number of participants from Organization of Islamic
Countries (OIC) members, was seemed to be a warm up session
for the Ministerial level meeting of the OIC member countries.
Replying different questions on behalf of Pakissan.com, Rizwan
Razi said that the project was never sponsored by any private
or the government institution in and outside Pakistan and it
was merely personal venture a group of Lahore based
professionals. He said that it was dream come true for the
people working for the pakissan and they are working on the
voluntarily.
Speaking about the sustainability of the portal, Mr Razi said
that the Pakissan has started marketing this project at every
level and they would soon be economically feasible.
There was a parallel group discussion on agriculture on next
day (February 15). Speaking on the occasion, Mr Razi said that
I.T is an enabling technology and the combination of I.T and
B.T could create some good results for the betterment of
Muslim Ummah. He quoted a very famous saying that manpower of
Pakistan; soil of Sudan and investment from Saudi Arabia could
produce food for the population of the whole of the world. He
said that through Pakissan, they were trying to provide a
missing link between different parts of the Muslim world.
He said that if good cotton crop in Pakistan, hurt the cotton
prices in Egypt and Jordan and Palm Oil prices in Malaysia,
then Pakissan could be best instrument to communicate the
agriculture communities of these countries. Participants came
up with a lot of suggestions, which include the Pakissan
should also start a voice interactivity as majority of the
people
