Iran’s saffron exports registered a 25.1-percent growth in value during March 21 to July 22, the first four months of the 2018 fiscal year, local media EghtesadOnline reported Sunday. Meanwhile, the saffron exports to a total of 49 countries exceeded 70.8 tons during the period, hitting nearly 98.35 million U.S. dollars, it said.
The top export destination for Iranian saffron was the United Arab Emirates with 31.64 million dollars, followed by China with 20 million dollars, Spain with 16.54 million dollars, Afghanistan with 9.74 million dollars, and Vietnam with 8.8 million dollars. About 236 tons of saffron worth more than 325 million dollars were exported from Iran during the 2017 fiscal year ending March 20, surging 56 percent in value from a year ago.—Xinhua
