Planting of spring crops started in Kazakhstan

On March 21-31, air temperatures were mainly 4-7?? above normal in the south and south-east of Kazakhstan, where winter crops are cultivated, and 3-6?? below normal in the west. Precipitation occurred everywhere, locally exceeding its ten-day normal rates.

Winter wheat is resuming growth in Almaty region; its stages range from emergence to tillering. Plant condition is mostly good, being fair in some areas, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Winter wheat in South Kazakhstan region is rated mostly good, locally even excellent. The development stages range from the third leaf to the emergence of the lower stem node.

In Zhambyl region, winter wheat is rated good everywhere. Its stages range from the third leaf to tillering. Following preplant tillage, local farmers have started to sow spring barley. The plants are at the stages of germination to emergence.  Their condition is good, locally excellent.

Preplant tillage for sowing spring barley has been started in Almaty region.

Spring fieldwork is in full swing in South Kazakhstan region. 130 Th ha of land has been sown by April 10, 2018. Spring barley occupied 25.6 Th ha and melon crops got 11.4 Th ha.
