Indonesia considers beef imports from Brazil

Indonesia targets beef prices during Ramadhan this year to not exceed USD 7.25/kg. To assure this, the government plans to increase beef imports. Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, said besides relying on local supply and imports from Australia, imports from Brazil should be considered.

In line with this, the Ministry of Agriculture will do an audit on beef cattle in Brazil. “Our audit team is ready to go to Brazil to do on-site reviews on cattle health and diseases,” said I Ketut Diarmita, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture.
