The Philippines’ chicken imports increased by 4% to 244,104.419 tonnes in 2017, over the previous year. According to the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the US remained the biggest supplier of chicken meat contributing 39.73 % or 96,974.25 tonnes, 8.33% higher than the 2016 record.
About 77.44 % of the total chicken-meat volume was MDM or mechanically deboned meat, leg quarters accounted for 18.37 %; chicken cuts constituted 2.82 %, while offal, rind/skin and fat shared 1.38 %, BAI said.
