Over 1.5 million people working in poultry sector in Pakistan

LAHORE : Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) North Zone Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Nusrat Tahir has said that poultry is a developed sector in Pakistan and more than 1.5 million people are working in this sector currently. He was speaking at a ceremony organised in connection with the World Egg Day at Prof Dr Akram Educational Complex, Ravi Campus, Pattoki, by the Department of Poultry Production, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), in collaboration with the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA).

On the occasion, rich tributes were paid to the late Prof Dr Muhammad Akram in recognition of his services for development of Ravi Campus. Various activities including a seminar, a walk, egg nutrition documentary of the PPA, egg-eating, egg dishes cooking, posters and egg-shell model contests and answer/question sessions regarding knowledge of eggs were held to create awareness among the public about nutritional value of eggs and its importance for growth of a human body.

Chauhdry Muhammad Nusrat Tahir presided over the seminar while Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique, Chairman Department of Poultry Production Prof Dr Athar Mahmood, Managing Director Alltech Pakistan Dr Shahzad Naveed Jadoon and a number of poultry industry representatives from public and private sectors, UVAS and Govt Girls Community Model School Pattoki, Government Collage for Woman Pattoki faculty members and students attended the event.

Nuhammd Nusrat Tahir advised students to work hard with full dedication and join the poultry industry after completing their education.
