LAHORE-The Punjab Agriculture Minister, Khurshid Zaman Qureshi, has commended the Punjab Seed Corporation for its contribution in ehnancing per acre wheat yield by supplying 1.8 million maunds of processed wheat seed during the current sowing season.

He was chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of the PSC here Tuesday. The Managing Drirector, PSC, Brig. Amanullkah Khan Niazi, briefed the minister on the performance of the corporation. The Minister said that smooth supply of quality seed to the growers on reasonable rates was an important factor in increasing per acre yeild.

He said, the government was also planning to supply surplus wheat seed to Afghanistan through the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization ) to help its rehabilitation on the agricultural front.

The Minister noted that the PSC has planned the provision of high quality rice and cotton seeds in adequate quantities. Special consideration was being given to supply the PSC certified seeds to small land holders on affordable rates for enhancing
