'Gur Ghanies to be registered in N gistered
in NWFP'
PESHAWAR- The NWFP Minister for Food and Agriculture,
Abeedullah Jan has said that under the power crusher licensing
amendment ordinance 2001 NWFP, all Gur Ghanies will be
registered for the purpose of documentation on payment of Rs.
500 as a registration fee and there will be no other tax on
ordinary Gur Ghanies.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding problems and
difficulties being faced by Sugar Cane Industry in NWFP on Jan
26, 2002. The meeting was attended by SMBR, Syed Mazhar Ali
Shah and Director Food NWFP.
The Minister said that only commercial cane crushers of 12.5
Horse Power and above having Karai (cooking pot) above 36
cubic feet and capacity of 330 killogrammes of Gur will be
required to obtain licence on payment of Rs. 50,000 per annum.
The Minister further told the meeting that sugarcane loaded in
trucks or tractor trollies without sugar mills indent would be
considered as illegal.District Revenue Officers have been
authorized to issue licences to the owners of Gur Ghanies, the
meeting decided.
