Balochistan Governor distributes land


GADDANI- Balochsitan Governor Justice (R) Amirul Mulk Mengal has said that devolution of power to lower level is a major achievement of government in office and a silent revolution as stated by President General Pervez Musharraf.

He was addressing a ceremony here on Jan 25, 2002 in which he distributed
documents of proprietory rights among 150 landless peasants of District
Lasbella. He said it is fulfilment of the promise made by the President Musharraf.
He expressed the hope that farmers who have been given owership rights today, will cultivate these lands to earn decent livelihood for themeselves and to contribute in the national progress and prosperity.

He said under the government policy, agriculture land has already been distributed among 116 landless farmers in Naseerabad district and state land will also be distributed among the landless peasants in future under the same polilcy in other areas.

Referring to development activities in District Lasbella, Governor Mengal said that he had announced a package of Rupees 10 million for the area during his last visit. He expressed satisfaction that a large number of develoment projects initiated under Governor's Package have been successfully completed and proved a source of minimising then problems of the people of the area. He said district has so far been provided Rupees 50 million for development activities.

He said under Khushal Pakistan Programme, numerous development schemes have
been completed in the area. With this the condition of roads has improved while an increase has been witnessed in provision of basic facilities to the common man in Health and Education sectors.

He said a number of steps have been taken to improve the living and working conditions of fishermen, as the fishery is the mainstay of the people of Balochistan coastal belt.

Governor said that all the District Nazmeen in the province have been vested administrative, economic and development powers under the devolution of power plan and in future all the Tehsil and Union Councils will also be given the funds direct from the provincial exchequer. Balochistan Governor stressed upon the local bodies representatives to fulfill their obligations with devotion and dedication and
concenctrate on solving problems of the common man.  He called upon the people to extend cooperation to the Federal, Provincial and district governments in the efforts of the ulift of the people.

Governor Mengal announced that buildings completed under Workers Welfare Board and lying abandoned in the area, will be utilised as Boys and Girls colleges. He said taccavi loans have already been written off by the provincial government. As far as recovery of agricultural loans is concerned, federal government has been approached to soften the conditions for the recovery of these loans.

District Nazim Lasbella Jam Kamal Khan and noted personality of the area Wadera Khuda Bakhsh also spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of the provincial government in minimising the problems of the people in the area.

Provincial Ministers Sardar Muhammad Ali Jogezai, Haji Qasim Achakzai and senior government officers were also present.
