Farmer friendly plans yielding good results
SADIQABAD (March 06 2005): The country has experienced a record produce of 15 million bales of cotton this year largely due to farmer-friendly policies of the government, said Federal Minister for Industries and Production Jehangir Khan Tareen here on Saturday. He was addressing a public gathering in Basti Ranjhay Khan; a union council of Sadiqabad during the inauguration ceremony of a Sui gas supply project completed at a cost of Rs 2.6 million.
He said with the availability of Sui gas the life of common man would be greatly facilitated adding welfare of common man was a high priority area of the government.
With a view to extend due benefits to the farmers the government was buying cotton through Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) at reasonable prices. He said with the blessings of Allah, hard work of farmers and smart policies of the government, agri-yield of various sorts registered marked increase, and hoped the country would register a bumper crop of wheat this year.
