LAHORE (December 06 2007): ProFarm Managing Director Pakistan Steven Schulting has said increasing domestic demand for processed milk and dairy based products has surged the demand for high quality genetic material and reliable insemination services. He also said artificial insemination and breeding were important tools for farmers looking to breed a healthy, durable and productive cow.

The CRV International (Holland), a multinational supplier and producer of high quality proven bovine semen and its partners, established ProFarm Pakistan, which will set up a network of 30 offices in the Punjab in the next five years. Five such centers are already being operated by the firm since its inception in October 2006, which are located in Depalpur, Sahiwal (Sargodha), Burewala, Bhowana and Kabirwala. While sixth branch will soon be opened in Chakwal.

This was stated by the ProFarm Managing Director Pakistan Steven Schulting while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday. He was accompanied by his Director Operations, Pieter Schulting and others.

He said Pakistan is the fifth largest milk producer in the world with 26.3 million buffaloes and 24.2 million cows. ProFarm Pakistan aims to be "The reliable provider of cattle breeding services in Pakistan". ProFarm Pakistan will establish a sales and service network initially in the Punjab province to provide farmers with reliable Artificial Insemination Service and high quality semen.

To offer the right choice for each animal and breeding goal, ProFarm portfolio contains a variety of breeds and bulls. ProFarm Pakistan offers semen of exotic breeds (Holstein-Friesian, Jersey and cross breeds) imported from Holland and New Zealand, local breeds (Cholistani and Sahiwal) and buffalo.

Steven Schulting said their imported semen was the result of extensive breeding programmes that was producing high quality semen with excellent breeding values and high reliability. While local semen is subject to frequent quality audits to ensure it meets Company's standards, he said and added to further improve the quality of our local semen, a continuous quality improvement programme has been initiated.

He said ProFarm would extend services through trained Artificial Insemination Technicians, who were constantly evaluated and motivated to keep delivering a quality service. This combination of products and services ensure that ProFarm Pakistan provides Quality and Reliability.

To ensure long-term profitability for both dairy farmers and company, ProFarm Pakistan conducted a thorough analysis of local circumstances such as environment and animal management practices to develop a breeding policy for Pakistan. As a result, a careful selection of elite bulls' semen was made, allowing dairy farmers to breed for functional, durable and high milk producing cows and heifers.

He claimed ProFarm was offering services at a fair price to farmers throughout the Punjab. Our product and services are supported by free advice and education on breeding, Artificial Insemination and best dairy farming practices.
