Wheat position to improve in three days: Rind
ISLAMABAD (March 07
2004): Minister for Food, Agriculture and Live
Stocks Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has said wheat and
flour position will be totally in control within
two-three days, all over the country.
Speaking in a PTV programme, he said in view of
the wheat position of the country, wheat was
imported but, unfortunately, the shipment was
sub-standard that's why it was rejected after
laboratory tests.
He said, with the commencement of harvesting from
March 15 in Sindh province the wheat position
would begin to improve ending the chances of its
shortage and improving the overall stock position
in the country.
"Certain measures have also been taken by the
government for the smooth provision of this
essential commodity," he said, adding, "there are
sufficient wheat stocks in all provinces, except
Sindh, and within few days the situation will also
be in total grip there."
"There is no shortage of wheat in the country and
it has sufficient stocks to meet the
requirements," he added.
He said from April 15, harvesting would also be
started in the Punjab province.
