Traders vying for Sindh wheat
HYDERABAD (March 18
2004): A large number of wheat traders from
Balochistan and lower Punjab were here, in
Hyderabad, with a view to sign contracts for
supply of wheat from the new wheat crop.
These traders were here in the hope that they
would be able to buy the new crop at low rates,
direct from the growers, and carry those by road
to their destinations in Balochistan and Punjab.
Many of the goods transporters had reportedly
assured the traders that they would carry wheat to
their destinations without any difficulty, though
the Sindh provincial authorities were maintaining
a strict watch on wheat movement by private
parties without authorisation.
