FAISALABAD (March 11 2004): Increase in wheat production is a must to maintain food autarky in view of fast growing population.

Professor Dr Bashir Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), stated this addressing a function of the academic staff association of the university to bid farewell to former VC Professor Dr Riaz Hussain Qureshi here on Wednesday.

He said that the university scientists have developed and evolved new technologies to increase farm yield and now they must strive to take these technologies at the grassroots level.

Professor Dr Bashir said that a new system for agriculture is being developed to meet the challenges of new world order.

Professor Dr Riaz Hussain Qureshi also explained his experience as VC of this university and thanked academic staff association for co-operating with him in managing the affairs of this alma mater.
