PPA seeks government's intervention
LAHORE (March 05
2004): Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) has
asked the government to take immediate notice of
media campaign launched by international fast food
chain, which by announcing the import of disease
free chicken from abroad, is trying to give an
impression that the chicken available in Pakistan
is not disease free.
M. Yousaf Ihsan, Chairman Pakistan Poultry
Association told Business Recorder here on
Thursday that it is unfortunate that this food
chain while marketing its chicken products is
trying to create doubts about the quality of the
chicken produced by the local industry.
"It is not a good business practice, hence the
government must take notice of this", he added.
He was of the view that multinational companies
have launched a negative campaign against the
Pakistani chicken so as to check its export.
He said that PPA has given a deadline of one-week
to this food chain for stopping this campaign.
PPA is also writing letters to President, Prime
Minister, Commerce Minister, Chairman Export
Promotion Bureau and editors of the leading
newspapers of the country to apprise them about
their apprehensions.
