Plan to protect agri land from erosion
prepared: speaker
SIALKOT (March 29 2004): Speaker National Assembly
Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that a well-knitted
plan has been prepared for protecting vast area
including agricultural land from erosion of River
Niky Tavi in Chapra area.
It is expected that work on this programme would
be carried before monsoon, which would help reduce
the growing threats of erosion in the area he
added.
Speaking as chief guest at inaugural ceremony of
extension programme of telephone exchange Chaprar
on Sunday about 20 KM from here he further
revealed that construction of bridge over River
Tavi would be started in last week of April.
The Speaker National Assembly said that Irrigation
department was reviewing the model study of the
project would be accomplished within four weeks
and earth breaking of the bridge would be held in
April.
The National Assembly Speaker said that federal
and provincial governments have released the fund
for the construction of bridge over River Tavi.
The completion of this bridge would not only
reduce the travelling difficulties but also link
85 villages with district headquarter on permanent
basis he added.
The present government is endeavouring for
vanishing the backwardness from the ignored and
far-off areas of the country.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony
of telephone exchange here he added that huge
amount was being mobilised by the government for
providing basic amenities to the masses living in
remote and neglected areas aimed at changing the
standard of life.
The basic facilities like telephone, health,
education, sewerage and water supply are being
provided on top priority basis in the areas he
said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that drinking water in
Chaprar is rendered unfit for the human life
adding that efforts are being made to tackle this
genuine problem on top priority basis.
He assured the people that their problems being
confronting by the people would be resolved on top
priority adding that various tangible steps have
already been taken in this regard.
Earlier, the Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry
Amir Hussain inaugurated the extension programme
of Chaprar telephone exchange.
On this occasion DE PTCL development informed the
speaker that 900 telephones have been added in the
exchange costing Rs 2500,000.
