HYDERABAD, (March 20 2004): Tenth international congress of soil scientists at its concluding session held at the Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, on Thursday called for long-term research in the field of agriculture.

The theme of the four-day congress was "Management of Natural Resources For Food Security". Over 300 scholars participated in the congress from all over the country and abroad including India, Bangladesh, Iran, Germany and Russia.

Some of them spoke or presented papers on different aspects of management of natural soil and water resources for sustainable production of food for increasing population.

The congress has classified its recommendations for researchers, policy-makers and agriculture department's field workers. It called on researchers to combat soil and environmental degradation by strengthening current research activitie.
