9.673 million cotton bales arrive at ginneries

MULTAN (March 18 2004): Over 9.673 million cotton bales have so far reached the ginneries, a report issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) said here on Wednesday.

Till March 15, 2004, a total of 96,73,389 bales of Phutti had reached the ginning factories in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.

The PCGA report also said arrival data was not collected last year from the ginneries on March 15, 2003, so a comparative study was not possible.

This year the Punjab's production has been recorded at 7,576,568 bales and that of Sindh at 20,96,821 bales. In Balochistan, the output has been recorded at 3,596 bales.

The textile mill-owners have so far bought 8,078,107 bales and exporters 177,137 bales. The unsold stocks amount to 1.418 million bales, including un-ginned Phutti weighing 0.69 million bales.
