| ZTBL advances Rs 660 million loans to farmers SIALKOT (January 24 2004): Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has advanced loans amounting Rs 660 million during current fiscal year to the small growers and farmers while recovered its outstanding dues of Rs 1.41 billion from the habitual defaulters in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
The ZTBL sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that the bank had adopted rational and liberal policy for accommodating the small farmers and growers of both the districts for reducing their problems and difficulties.
The loan has been advanced to the growers and farmers to purchase tractors, seeds, pesticides, and fertiliser and for establishment of small-scale dairies, poultry farms and livestock in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
In order to expedite recovery of outstanding dues, the bank had recovered Rs 260 million and arrested 200 defaulters during a special recovery drive launched in Sialkot and Narowal district.
Under one-window operation the ZTBL has advanced Rs 190 million under its Production Loan scheme among 3000 small growers and farmers of both the districts.
The timely advancement of loans to the small growers and farmers was aimed at enabling them to purchase seed, fertiliser, pesticides and fuel well in time for their crops sources added.
