| Punjab poultry farmers asked to vaccinate chickens MULTAN (January 28 2004): Punjab government on Tuesday has asked the poultry farmers and concerned department to vaccinate the chickens so that bird flu which was first detected in South Asia and Karachi could not spread in Punjab.
"This epidemic was not detected in Punjab. We have also banned the shifting of poultry from Karachi as preventive measure and asked the poultry dealers not to allow anyone shifting of infected birds.
However, there is no report of illness among the birds in Punjab," said Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister of State for Agriculture and Livestock.
He further said that we are keeping vigilant eyes on the poultry trading to avoid any danger and we would certainly take preventive measures in collaboration with agriculture and livestock department and staff of poultry development has been alerted to combat any situation.
