| Punjab to provide 100,000 tonnes of wheat to Sindh LAHORE (January 20 2004): Punjab government has decided to provide 100,000 tonnes of wheat to Sindh province, and out of this 50,000 tonnes of wheat would be provided immediately.
This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while addressing a high-level meeting held here on Monday, to review the stocks and production of wheat here on Monday.
"There is no ban on inter-provincial transportation of wheat," the chief minister said, adding, "at present, Punjab is providing 50,000 tonnes of wheat to other provinces daily."
The government, he said, "is chalking out a comprehensive policy for enhancing the wheat production."
Federal Minister for Agriculture Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind praised the Punjab government for deciding to provide 100,000 tonnes of wheat to Sindh.
