PCGA concerned over snatching of cotton

LAHORE (January 03 2004): Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) Vice-chairman, Mian Abdul Wahid, while expressing concern over the incidents of snatching of cotton trailers at the highways of Punjab, has alleged that the police instead of controlling the cases, is harassing the ginners.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Wahid alleged that during the past two months, ginners had to sustain a loss of more than Rs 10 million in Multan circle where the incidents of snatching have increased to an alarming extent.

The police instead of helping out ginners is making life miserable for them, as they have to go to police stations time and again just to get FIR registered.

As soon as the trailer leaves the premises of cotton factory, the responsibility of factory owner ends, he added.

Emphasising the need for effective control of police on the main roads, he asked the authorities to take emergent measures to stop such incidents in future.
