| Punjab chief minister for raising wheat supply: flour millers hail LAHORE (January 01 2004): Pakistan Flour Mills Association Punjab has hailed the provincial government decision to enhance
supply of wheat to millers from 12,000 to 18,000 tonnes per day.
The Association Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan and Honorary Advisor Bilal Aslam Sufi, while welcoming the decision said in a joint
statement on Wednesday that they had always been saying that there was no substitute of wheat and shortage of supply gives
rise to flour prices.
"Raise in wheat supply quota to 18,000 tonnes per day is our long standing demand which was under consideration of the
government for about one and half month."
But now the government has met the demand, averting the chances for further price hike, they stated.
They observed that hopefully the rate of flour will remain stable in future and there would be no further rise in its prices.
The Punjab Chief Minister has taken a commendable step, which is in the interest of the millers as well as common man, they
added.
