| Crop management bodies constituted HYDERABAD (January 04 2004): Sindh Agriculture Minister Arif Mustafa Jatoi has constituted crop management committees (CMC)
for major crops of cotton, wheat, rice and sugarcane under his convenership.
A spokesman of Sindh agriculture department said here on Saturday that the terms and condition of these committees were to
provide policy recommendations to optimise productivity, regular monitoring of crop production and steps taken to achieve the
targets and review and monitoring the availability of water, seed and other inputs.
The secretary agriculture, additional secretary (technical) agriculture, director general agriculture extension and research,
director agriculture information and concerned crop experts/directors have been nominated as the members of these committees
along with three growers in each committee.
The growers' members in cotton crop management committee are Akhund Ghulam Muhammed, Syed Nadeem Shah and Chaudhry Muhammed
Sharif.
The growers Dr Shahnawaz Shah, Dr Zulfiqar Yousufani and Farooque Ahmed Lodhi will act as the members of wheat crop
management committee while Agha Nasarullah, Dr Bashir Ahmed Nizamani and Gada Hussain Mahesar will be the members of rice
crop management committee. Syed Qamar Zaman Shah, Syed Mehmood Nawaz Shah and Faisal Kachelo will act as the members from
growers' side in sugarcane crop management committee.
The sugarcane crop management committee and rice crop management committee will meet on January 5 and 6, 2004 respectively at
Karachi under the chairmanship of Sindh agriculture minister.
These committees will meet on fortnightly basis during crop peak season and on monthly basis during normal period.
