Buying interest re-awakens on cotton market

KARACHI (January 15 2004): Buying support was pretty large on the cotton market on Wednesday as prices showed firm trend, usual relevant sources said.

The official spot rate of grade III cotton was unchanged at Rs 3225 without ST and upcountry expenses.

Buying support was encouraging with purchases seen around 10,000 bale done on Tuesday.

Futures in New York were modestly higher such as March was up at 74.26 and May up at 75.40 cents a pound.

Following deals were lifted from DMR 2000 bales of Khairpur at Rs 3150; 3000 bales of Sadiqabad at Rs 3100/3360; 2000 bales of RYK at Rs 3200/3250; 1000 bales of DGK at Rs 3150/3300; 1000 bales of Haroonabad at Rs 3200/3250 and 600 bales of Faqirwali at Rs 3250.
