Sugar industry holds 2.450 million tons unsold
stock
KARACHI (April 16
2004): The sugar mills are holding an unsold stock
of more than 2.450 million tons of sugar, industry
data showed here on Thursday.
According to the data compiled and released by
Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA), sugar
lifting was estimated at over 1.378 tons, leaving
a stock of 2.450 million tons.
The carry-over stock from 2002-2003 season was
estimated at 83,249 tons. The TCP has purchased
200,000 tons sugar from mills to maintain a buffer
stock.
Sugar mills have produced more than 3.748 million
tons of sugar during 2003-2004.
