Prices firm up on cotton market
KARACHI (April 27
2004): Prices firmed up on cotton market on Monday
as international prices fluctuated erratically,
relevant sources said, adding that some deals were
also struck on Saturday.
The official spot rate of grade III cotton was
unchanged at Rs 2850 without ST and upcountry
expenses.
Fresh deals were not reported.
The spinners were very wary as prices did not suit
their export parity. The spinners were tightening
their belts for improved signals being received
from European Union (EU).
Following deals were finalised on Saturday: 1700
bales of Rahimyar Khan at Rs 2900, 2900 bales of
Moro at Rs 2690 and 1000 bales at Rs 2600.
