POSA seeks ban on export of cotton waste
LAHORE (April 06 2004): Pakistan Open End Spinners
Association (POSA) has urged the government to
impose immediate ban on export of cotton waste so
as it could be used for preparation of value-added
items for export.
The Association in its budget proposals for the
year 2004-05 has demanded this.
These proposals were presented at a meeting of the
Association held with its chairman, Chaudhry
Tassaduq Rasool.
The meeting was also attended by Abdul Rashid,
Parvez Masood, Mir Mansoor Ali Talpur and others,
says a press release issued here on Monday.
The Association demanded that 25 percent duty on
import of cotton waste and raw material for open
end spinning units should be abolished to meet the
shortage of cotton waste.
It was also demanded to reduce electricity tariff
so as to save the industry.
