Meeting held to check adulteration in milk
LAHORE (April 01 2004): Punjab Minister for
Agricultural Marketing Rana Mohammad Qasim has
said that all basic amenities will be provided in
Gawala colonies to ensure availability of pure
milk to people.
Chairing a meeting held to check adulteration in
milk here on Wednesday, he said that milk was a
fundamental part of food so it was necessary to
ensure provision of pure milk to the consumers. He
directed food inspectors to take immediate action
against the persons involved in adulteration of
milk.
The meeting was informed that life of fresh milk
was only four hours and chilling treatment was a
must for prolonging it life. It was further told
that as much as 2.2 million liter of milk is used
in Lahore daily, out of which only 25 percent are
available in Tetrapak.
DCO Lahore Khalid Sultan informed the meeting that
during last year 4,673 samples of milk were taken
and analysed, out of which 2,723 were found
adulterated.
He said that prompt action was taken against
adulterators.
