Jamali may announce package for farmers
LAHORE (April 15 2004): Prime Minister Mir
Zafarullah Khan Jamali is likely to announce an
incentive package for the uplift of agriculture
sector of Pakistan in the 100th General Body
Meeting (GBM) of Farmers Associates Pakistan (FAP).
Muhammad Idrees Chief Co-ordinator FAP made this
claim while talking to Business Recorder here on
Wednesday.
"FAP wanted to hold it's 100th GBM in the last
week of current month or in the first week of May,
however, final date will be fixed after
confirmation from the Prime Minister. FAP has also
prepared some recommendations for the uplift of
growers as well as agriculture sector", he said.
Idrees maintained that all the stakeholders of
agriculture sectors including growers, agriculture
scientists, agri businessmen, representatives of
agriculture organisations, agriculture exporters,
officials of agriculture departments,
representatives of international donor agencies
and agriculture related industries would also be
invited in the meeting.
He said agro based industries would display their
products at an exhibition to be held on the
occasion. Special awards would also be given to
those who rendered services for the promotion of
agriculture sector.
It may be mentioned that FAP is a non-political,
non-profitable NGO, which has around 1,000 regular
members.
