Indian traders arrive to explore opportunities
LAHORE (April 11 2004): An 11-member delegation of
the SoyabeanProcessors Association (SOPA) of India
reached here on Saturday, toexplore trade
opportunities with their Pakistani counterparts.
The members of the delegation have demanded both
the Indian andPakistani governments to run a
special 'Samjhota Beupar (Business)Express' to
streamline goods rail traffic.
Davish Jain, leader of the delegation told
Business Recorder thatSoyabean trade team has come
to Pakistan after a gap of 15 years. 'Weare here
at a right time as cricket has brought us closer',
he said.
Jain said both the countries could work together
as partners in theprogress of agri business. He
called for promoting trade relationsbetween both
the countries and added that land route trade
betweenthe two countries could be beneficial for
both because it would be acheaper and convenient
transportation system.
"We have floated a proposal for starting a special
Samjhota BeuparExpress which would streamline
goods rail traffic and volume of tradewould
enhance considerably", he added.
The delegation has representatives from major Soya
processingexporting units and trading houses from
India.
The objectives of the delegation are to accelerate
the growth of Soyamilk trade between India and
Pakistan apart from promoting therequirement of
Indian Soyabean meal.
The members of the team will meet with a number of
feed millers andend users to know their
requirements of Soyabean meal mainly forPOULTRY
feed purposes.
