Govt to set up lab for poultry industry
ISLAMABAD (APP)- The government will set up
laboratory for poultry research at a cost of Rs.30
million.
This was unveiled by Head of Animal Science,
Division Research, Poultry Industry in Ministry of
Food and Agricultural, Dr. Afzal while speaking in
a PTV programme. The
laboratory will provide all information to poultry
farmers to control chicken disease.
He said, another project to cost 0.4 million
dollars will also be initiated to facilitate the
poultry industry in the country.
To a question, he replied rumours about bird flu
have badly affected the poultry business. The
industry has come out from the crisis as prices of
poultry have risen. The
poultry industry has incurred loss worth billions
due to bird flu rumours in the country, he added.
He said, while the reality is that only one case
of bird flu was reported in Karachi, which was not
harmful for human body.When asked if WTO regime
will effect the poultry
industry, he said, it will not create any problems
for poultry industry.
