Former employees of Adabi Board denied jobs
HYDERABAD, April 5: The district coordination
officer has declined to provide jobs in the
education department to 22 employees of the Sindhi
Adabi Board who have been relieved by the board.
The board of governors of the Sindhi Adabi Board,
at a meeting presided over by Sindh Education
Minister Irfanullah Marwat, had decided to
transfer 35 employees to the education department
to ease financial pressure on the board.
Following the issuance of the notification, 35
board employees were relieved and 13 of them were
adjusted in the education department by the EDOs
of different districts.
However, sources said that the Hyderabad EDO sent
a summary to the DCO who refused to adjust 22
employees. Requesting anonymity, a senior official
of the board told this correspondent on Sunday
that the employees had not received salaries since
they were relieved in February and they were
threatening to stage a protest sit-in outside the
Hyderabad Press Club.
The education EDO and the DCO could not be
contacted as they were said to be busy in making
arrangements for the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif
Bhitai which begins from Monday (today).
