Cut in rice price criticized
LARKANA, April 29: The
Sindh Balochistan Rice Millers and Traders
Association has expressed concern over a sudden
drop in the purchase rate of IRRI-6 rice and
demanded a committee to keep watch on the price
fluctuation.
A leader of the association, Ramesh Lal, in a
press statement issued here on Wednesday, blamed
rice exporters for the price drop and said the
sufferers were the millers.
TRAIN: The Larkana Chamber of Commerce and
Industry has demanded a fast train service from
Jacobabad to Karachi via Larkana. LCCI president
Iqbal Hussain Shaikh told this correspondent that
on a request, President Gen Parvez Musharraf had
directed the Pakistan Railways to launch the train
service. However, he deplored, the directive had
not been implemented yet.
He said that the chamber had urged the management
of the Pakistan Railways through another letter
sent today to introduce the train service. He said
that the train service could earn profits for the
PR the Bolan Express could not accommodate
passengers from the area.
