Concern voiced over cattle smuggling
PESHAWAR (April 12 2004): Chairman, Sarhad Chamber
of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) standing committee
on dry port, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi has expressed
concern over cattle smuggling to Afghanistan due
to that the meat price is showing upward trend.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he demanded
of provincial government to take effective
measures to control this smuggling of cattle to
Afghanistan and called for limiting the export to
the issuance of permits by the Department of
Livestock.
He appreciated the performance of the Directorate
of Research and Development Livestock for the
research on the different edibles of cattle and
said that this laboratory also provided all kind
of information about edibles to exporters, who
export edibles to Middle East and European
countries.
Sarhadi demanded of the provincial government and
finance department to assist the laboratory in
purchase of modern machinery and instruments to
improve the performance and enable business
community to take benefit of it.
