Ban imposed on wheat movement
LAHORE (April 21
2004): Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz
Elahi addressing a press conference here on
Tuesday has said that farmers in Punjab besides
getting support price of wheat would be paid Rs
seven per maund for transportation of the
commodity as well as Rs three per bag of 100
kilogram delivery charges, from April 21, 2004.
Chief Minister stated that in order to make wheat
purchase campaign successful in Punjab a ban has
been imposed on inter district movement of wheat
in areas of Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur,
Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari,
Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera
Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang,
Sargodha, and Gujranwala.
He said that only those parties possessing Food
Grain License would be allowed to purchase wheat
in the province.
'People possessing food grain licenses will have
to inform on daily buying and purchase along with
their wheat reservoirs daily to the provincial
government', he added.
He also gave instructions to DCOs in Punjab and
asked District Nazims to ensure success of wheat
procurement campaign a great success.
