Advisory body on pesticides meeting on April 5
LAHORE (April 05 2004): The Expert Advisory
Committee on Pesticides, constituted by the
federal Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is
scheduled to meet on Monday in Islamabad to
discuss budget proposals and ways and means for
development of pesticide industry.
The committee meeting, which will be chaired by
Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, President Pakistan Crop
Protection Association (PCPA), will be attended by
all stakeholders of pesticide industry and
representatives of agriculture sector.
It will discuss budget proposals and prepare
recommendations aimed at betterment and
development of local pesticide industry.
The salient features of the agenda to be discussed
at the meeting are: preparation of budget
proposals for manufacturing process of pesticides
and formation of an incentive package for the
pesticide sector, a spokesman of the PCPA said.
The issues relating to registration process of new
pesticide companies and ways and means to attract
fresh investment in this sector will also come
under discussion during the meeting, he added.
When finalised, the committee will submit these
proposals and recommendations to the Ministry of
Commerce, which will present the same to the
Finance Ministry so that they could be considered
for the budget, the spokesman said.
