60,000 wheat bags seized
RAHIM YAR KHAN, April
28: More than 60,000 wheat bags were confiscated
on Tuesday by the food department officials from a
local ginning factory. District food controller
Malik Khuda Bakhsh conducted a raid at the
Reliance ginning factory and recovered more than
60,000 illegally stored bags. A case against the
owner of factory has been registered and bags
shifted to the government's godown.
GRAIN MARKET:
District Nazim Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood here on
Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a new grain
market. Stretching over 24 acres, the market will
be constructed on the by-pass. For the last two
decades, farmers and traders have been demanding
the construction of a new grain market because the
old one is located in the heart of the city,
hampering smooth flow of traffic.
The old market had been extended in 1965 and 1975
but was insufficient for the requirement of
farmers and traders. It has been decided by the
authorities that 70 per cent shops in the new
market will be allotted to the existing traders of
old market and the remaining 30 per cent will be
sold through open auction.
The district Nazim, on this occasion, said the
by-pass would be dualized from Chowk Bahadarpur to
Adda Khanpur during the next six months. He also
announced an ambulance for the new market.
FOUR BOOKED:
Cholistan wildlife project director Abdul Shakoor
Manj has arrested four men allegedly for illegal
hunting.
