Unisame to arrange poultry walk on March 7
KARACHI (February 27
2004): In support of poultry industry the Union of
Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has arranged
a walk at Boat Basin on Sunday, March 7, 2004.
The walk would be held on the theme of 'Chicken
for Kitchen' and would be led by Abdul Rahim Janoo,
former Chairman Rice Exporters Association of
Pakistan (REAP).
Unisame Convener, Zulfikar Thaver has appealed to
the citizens to again add chicken on the menu
without hesitation and requested all supporters to
participate in the event.
In a statement issued on Thursday, he pointed out
that his union has also made arrangements to serve
'Chicken Biryani' to the participants on the
occasion of walk to give the message that chicken
was fit for human consumption and it could be
consumed as before.
Thaver assured that SME poultry houses would take
utmost care and will only sell healthy chickens to
the customers.
Referring to Poultry Production & Research
Institute Sindh (PPRIS), he said that according to
a senior official of the institute there was no
prevalent disease but still he advised that
normally, the chicken should always be properly
washed and cooked before eating.
He also confirmed that there is no virus and which
the laboratory test had confirmed and added that
all these tests had been endorsed and confirmed by
foreign scientists also.
Chairman Pakistan Poultry Association, Mohammed
Hussain Patel and office secretary Rafiq-ud-Din
would also participate in the event and declared
that poultry houses were carrying on their
business on scientific lines and are taking all
necessary precautions to avoid all sorts of
diseases by maintaining hygienic conditions and
administering proper vaccination from time to time
for the growth of healthy chicken.
