Tree plantation in Punjab to get maximum funds
KASUR (February 23
2004): The forest department has evolved a forest
policy 2004 under which maximum funds would be
spent on tree plantation in Punjab.
This was stated by Provincial Minister Forest, Dr
Ashfaq-ur-Rehman while inaugurating tree
plantation at Chhanga Manga on Saturday.
He said that his department has 20 million plants
of various kinds and a comprehensive tree
plantation campaign would be launched.
Dr Ashfaq said that 3.2 million saplings would be
distributed during the spring season and Nazim
Aala of the forest department would manage its
look after in their respective regions.
He said that priority would be given to Chhanga
Manga in planting trees.
The minister said that trees play a significant
role in controlling pollution, however, its care
should be like children.
He said that trees on 5427 acres of land would be
planted this year in Punjab.
Secretary forest Punjab, Sajid Hussain Chattha,
Nazim Aala Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi forest
regions also spoke on the occasion.
