Sindh governor wants end to propaganda against
poultry industry
KARACHI (February 23
2004): Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has
stressed the need for ending the effects of
negative propaganda against the poultry industry
and said it was unnecessary to fear and avoid
eating chicken meat.
He expressed these views while talking to a
delegation of Karachi Wholesalers Poultry
Association at Governor's House on Sunday.
The governor emphasised to take measures for
removing apprehensions from the minds of the
people and assured the association for every
possible co-operation.
He said there was need for joint efforts to
counter the propaganda against poultry industry.
He directed the concerned officials for
arrangement of programs by experts at the
provincial level for apprising the masses of the
actual situation.
Earlier the delegation told him that World Health
Organisation (WHO) and department of health had
clarified that no case of Bird Flu was reported in
Pakistan or any other Saarc country. They said
that all Saarc countries were free from Bird Flu.
The delegation included Munir Qureshi, Dr Zafarul
Islam, Shakil Hashmi, Sohail Shams and Akhter
Siddiqui.
