Mauritius to buy 1,000 tonnes potatoes

KARACHI (February 26 2004): Mauritius has expressed interest in importing potatoes from Pakistan on the condition that they should originate from Punjab region.

A three-member delegation of the Agricultural Marketing Board (AMB) of Mauritius will arrive here in the last week of this month to procure at least 300 tonnes of potatoes out of a total order to be placed for 1,000 tonnes.

This became possible due to the persistent efforts of High Commissioner of Pakistan, Syed Hasan Javed.

The delegation will be headed by Nagen Muneesamy and include officials of Ministry of Agriculture and Quarantine Department.

After its visit to Pakistan, the delegation would proceed to Mumbai. The team would like to sign contract with/or through the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
