| Sindh receives 50,000 tonnes wheat from Punjab ISLAMABAD (February 07 2004): Sindh has received the first consignment of 50,000 tonnes wheat from Punjab as part of mutually agreed formula to meet the needs of the former. This would improve supply position of Sindh Food Department.
The province may get another instalment of 50,000 tonnes wheat from Punjab, if needed, to cater its requirement before harvesting starts.
Talking to Business Recorder on phone from Karachi, Parihar said his department was strictly following a well-prepared policy to ensure transparency in issuing wheat quota to the mills, which were operational in true sense.
The Secretary said that his department has introduced a monitoring system to ensure that the mills which get quota from the department were accordingly grinding wheat and supplying flour to the market.
