| Rice exporting states meeting on February 17 HO CHI MINH CITY (February 13 2004): Officials from the world's five leading rice exporting countries Thailand, China, India, Pakistan and Vietnam will gather at their ministerial meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on February 17 to discuss issues relating to rice export policies, according to the trade ministry.
The officials will exchange views on global rice demand and supply. A proposal to halt a decline in rice prices, which have caused great effects to farmers and exporters, will also be discussed at the meeting.
The five countries' rice exports make up 75 percent of the world rice market.
