Powering national growth through rice export

ARTICLE (May 21 2003) : Since its inception in 1964, MATCO has been a trusted name for high quality Basmati Rice. MATCO's name has been abridged from its mother company M.A. Trading Company to retain the old name as a good omen.

MATCO had a humble beginning and initially dealt in rice processing machinery. Today the MATCO group of companies comprise of MATCO Engineering, MATCO Rice Processing Pvt Ltd (MRP), Fiyaz Centre and Pakistan Rice Complex.

In 1972 MATCO installed a 6 ton per-hour capacity Rice Husking and Milling Plant of "SATAKE" JAPAN by the name of JAWED RICE MILLS, Larkana. This plant was designed to process Sindh's IRRI-6 rice.

MATCO has also supplied several Rice Husking and Processing units to various Government organisations such as Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan (RECP), and private companies in the Punjab and Sindh.

Foreseeing the increasing demand of basmati rice by the international buyers, in 1990 MATCO decided to relocate its processing plant to Karachi. Today MATCO Rice Processing Plant is situated on more than 60000 sq.ft in F.B. Industrial Area, Karachi, Pakistan.

MATCO holds not only the credentials of working on the worlds most modern rice processing plant by Satake-Japan but also of producing well cleaned, graded and textured Basmati & IRRI rice for its valued customers in any quantity.

According to Mr Jawed Ali Ghori, the CEO of MATCO, MATCO Rice Processing Plant was set up "To provide customers across the globe with the most premium rice maintaining highest levels of quality in all stages of procurement and processing.

And to conduct business in an ethical and professional manner so as to maximise the wealth of all the company's stakeholders; the employees, customers, suppliers, community and the Nation." MATCO aims to be to be an Innovative, Customer focused and a Quality conscious company.
